Specialist Instruction Credential in Special Education, Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development Certificate and Resource Specialist Authorization.
She has taught at Woodland High since 1994, as an Education Specialist.
In 1984, her first teaching assignment involved teaching grades K through 12 in a small, one room, school in Alkali Lake, Oregon. A mobile home was placed by
the school district for her to live in and her livingroom became her classroom. "Working from home" in 1985.
Rebecca became a Master Gardener May 5, 2005. Knowledge and skills in landscaping, were also used in developing classes, along with learning
strategies for her students, working in conjunction with WHS Ag Program.
January 2012, Rebecca joined the Woodland Chamber Singers (WCS), as a second soprano. She gave her first public performance
signing the song, "In This Ancient House", for the Spring 2012 Celebration, along with singing. In March 2014, she traveled to New York, with the WCS to perform in Carnegie Hall.
John traveled with her to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience as well.
Starting April 13, 2020, due to the Covid-19 restrictions, Rebecca returned to
"teaching from home", this time via online Zoom meeting and advanced technology (as compared to the old tried-and-true pencil, paper and books methodology).
She finished up her last year of teaching for
the 2020-2021 school year, at home! What a way to start and finish her complete teaching career. As of 6-11-2021, she has officially retired from teaching.
Retirement gift was an e-bike, which has started her on new
trips. At the end of summer 2021, while riding around town, Rebecca observed a group of bike riders gathered in front of Foy's Bike Shop. Paging down a rider, she found out
about the weekly rides that are coordinated on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings starting at 8:00 a.m. and usually go for a 35 to 45 mile ride. What a great group of people
who have shown her the ropes on riding safely into the surrounding areas including Esparto, Winters, Knights Landing, Davis, Dixon and West Sacramento along the American River.
One thing led to another and she has recently taken a trip to Ireland with a bike group from Sacramento Area. To read more about this fantastic trip and wonderful people,
go to the Ireland site and enjoy.
New travels coming.
